Criminal firms to disappear

A recent report in the Gazette announced that over 400 legal practices will disappear from the criminal defence market when Lord Carter’s reforms are introduced next year. The main thrust of the reforms is to reduce the cost of legal aid by concentrating criminal defence work in an even smaller number of firms.To be in a position to bid for the new contracts firms will undoubtedly have to have a software system in place that can meet the requirements of Lord Carter’s recommendations.
