19th March 2002

Yeadon based Linetime Limited. one of the leading suppliers of technological solutions for the legal profession, has received an order for its Liberate integrated software system from new customer Gordon Brown Associates of Chester le Street, County Durham. The order, valued at in excess of £100,000, includes Liberate accounts and case management software, a Windows 2000 operating system, application/exchange servers and hardware.

Gordon Brown Associates was established in 1981 as a general high street legal practice offering a quality service to its customers. Today the firm has three partners and 40 employees. Senior partner Gordon Brown comments: "From even when the practice first started we had a word processor which 'automated' the conveyancing department. Throughout the years we have always tried to keep up with advances in technology and how it could be best used in our business."

The firm began using case management software six years ago once it had become convinced that the system was flexible enough to suit its needs.

Gordon Brown continues: "Our existing software has served us well but then came the advent of the 32 bit operating systems and also a need for us to hit higher service standards. In addition, we had a greater need for case management software in our litigation department."

The company initially looked at 10 suppliers and eventually narrowed it down to two suppliers. Amongst criteria to be met was the system to be installed had to reach industry standards and it also had to be compatible with Word for Windows.

Commenting on his decision to purchase from Linetime Mr Brown said: "Not only are we investing in the product we are also investing in the training and service provided by Linetime. The company is professional to deal with, offering what we believe to be an excellent product at a competitive price. They are very much people orientated. We have put our trust in them and they will be working closely with us to tailor make the system to suit our individual needs and to help us adapt quickly and effectively."

The comprehensive Liberate system was launched last year to bring the benefits of web-enabled, database systems and effective management overview and control of workflow to legal practices.

It supports all aspects of practice management, providing full marketing, diary and client relationship management, together with a modern comprehensive accounts system. The accounts system incorporates a full ledger set with aged debtor, forecasting and budgeting modules and integration with industry standard reporting tools. The case management module handles all matters of all types and many specific cases can be modelled and fully populated with relevant procedures and precedents.
