CLAIMS HANDLING – Avoid processing Duplicate Claims

Linetime are continuing to develop specialist features within the new Signature Edition case management system. The latest offering is a range of “duplication checks” within the file inception process. This is useful for all types of work but is particularly targeted at the personal injury market.

Customer feedback indicates that 2 to 3 percent of case referrals can be duplicate instructions (and that’s from a good referrer). This can rise to 10 percent or more from certain providers. This can lead to “difficult to reclaim” referral fees of up to £500. That is without consideration of the hidden costs of part processing the file.

The new features promote early detection of duplicates by allowing immediate checks as data is entered. For example, on entry of the vehicle registration number the system can scan all other cases, all stored documents and all emails for incidences of the same number. This process can be applied to any relevant piece of information. It is an entirely configurable and flexible facility.

If a potential duplicate is found then the operator (subject to permissions) can drill into the matching record to perform further manual checks. Alternatively the conflict can be brought to the attention of a supervisor.

The system allows the result of these searches to be stored against the case history as proof of good practice. The checks can be repeated at any stage during the life of a case.
