Legal IT 2009 Update

All eyes were on this year’s Legal IT exhibition at the Business Design Centre in Islington. Would the current economic climate reduce visitor numbers to such an extent that exhibitors would not attend in the future?
The simple answer is NO. Visitor numbers appeared slightly down, not helped by the adverse weather conditions, however the number of firms requiring demonstrations was as high as ever.
The two days of the exhibition saw a steady stream of people visiting the Linetime stand. The common areas of enquiry were Matter Management solutions without workflow and Case Management with particular emphasis on rapid development tools. Compliance, money laundering, and conflict checking were also key areas of interest.
The year saw a marked increase in the number of firms looking at practice management systems per se. Many enquirers were specifically interested in the migration of data to a Microsoft SQL database.
Linetime used the show for the launch of their latest case management solution – Liberate Signature Edition. The application has been written entirely using Microsoft .NET technologies and the Microsoft SQL server database. “We were delighted to see how well Liberate SE was received” said Tony Klejnow Managing Director. “Firms commended the advanced functionality and the intuitive user interface.
