History meets Technology
6th June 2008
The only newspaper to be 'Published by Authority' and one of the oldest in the world has made electronic connection to one of the country's leading legal software systems. The London Gazette, first established in 1665, can now accept information concerning legal notices direct from Linetime's DebtimeSQL software via a purpose-built interface.
Developed in conjunction with the Business Recovery Unit of Taunton-based debt recovery specialists Clarke Willmott the innovative XML electronic interface from Linetime allows DebtimeSQL systems to communicate directly with The Gazette reducing the time and also the cost of making submissions to this important national Journal.
The Gazette is actively encouraging solicitors to communicate electronically by reducing the cost of submissions. As from January 2nd 2007 solicitors could save £15 (plus VAT) by using electronic submission. However your legal software system must have a compatible interface – like DebtimeSQL.
Phil Snee, Linetime's Technical Director commented, "Clarke Willmott have a record of taking early advantage of advances in software technology. We have a close and valued relationship with them and appreciate their input to this project. DebtimeSQL users will benefit from this new development. They will be able to reduce costs, and the increased efficiency this electronic interface brings will allow them to improve client service. They will also see an increase in the number of daily transactions they can process without having to employ more staff”.
Clarke Willmott’s, Head of the Business Recovery Unit, said “We have worked very quickly with Linetime to enable this development to come to fruition. It is important for our ever increasing debt recovery business and to enable us to maintain our market leading position. It shows the importance of a partnership between two forward looking organizations”.
For your information: The Gazette was first published in 1665 because of two momentous events: the Great Plague and the decision of King Charles II to remove his court to Oxford. The London, Edinburgh, and Belfast Gazettes are the official newspapers of record in the United Kingdom. Several legal notices, including insolvency notices, are required by law to be published in them
