Risk Management is in essence the activity undertaken by departmental managers to recognise the potential risks that are present within their various systems and once isolated develop strategies to manage and hence reduce them to a minimum.
The risk management strategies that many firms employ include reducing the negative effect of the risk, which may mean actually accepting some of the consequences of a particular risk. However a much better strategy is to take steps to avoid the risk in the first place.
One of the most significant ways by which law firm’s can achieve this and hence mitigate such risks is through the investment in comprehensive staff training in all aspects of their IT systems.
